Reader Reviews From Amazon (Ranked by 'Helpfulness') Average Customer Rating: based on 12 reviews. NetBeans(TM) IDE Field Guide: Developing Desktop, Web, Enterprise, and Mobile Applications (2nd Edition), 2008-12-01 Reviewer rating: This book contains a lot of valuable information and is an excellent companion to using the NetBeans tutorials. It has been very helpful to me to get up to speed in using NetBeans for developing Java applications. | Seriously Out of Date; Limited Topic Coverage, 2006-09-22 Reviewer rating: This book covers up to Netbeans 4.1; the current revision on the streets is 5.0 and the 5.5 Beta is almost ready to go live. Unfortunately there are big differences between the 4.x and 5.x versions, rendering this book useless to all but those who need the most basic NB usage info.
Seriously lacking in this book (revision issues aside) is any information on "Netbeans Platform" development. This is a serious oversight. When will we find a good, current Netbeans book that covers Platform and Module development in depth???
I returned it to Amazon after about an hour reviewing it. It simply does not meet the need for today's Netbeans Developer. | Hasn't been useful so far., 2006-08-22 Reviewer rating: I bought the Field Guide shortly after starting to use NetBeans a couple months ago. To be honest, I really haven't used this book.
NetBeans is pretty intuitive and there's a lot of documentation available in Help and online. There are some good tutorials online that will get you up to speed faster than a 500 page hardcopy walkthrough.
Maybe it will prove to be a useful reference some day, but I doubt it.
Just my opinion. | Netbeans 2nd Edition, 2006-07-03 Reviewer rating: I received the book on time. As result, I give you guys an A | A very complete and easy to follow guide, 2006-07-03 Reviewer rating: I have been using Netbeans sometime but really wanted to get a book to learn more about this powerful tool. I really like this book and think the author did a great job explaining many of the features.
I feel that I will be more productive now that I have this book. For any Netbeans users, I would recommend it. This is a nice complement to an already outstanding development environment. |
