| OverviewTired of watching your elegantly constructed Web sites dissolve
into a jumble of disorganized pages, broken links, and badly
written code as they're updated and added to over time? Then get
this guide and regain control by learning to design and deploy
Dreamweaver sites specifically for use with Macromedia's hot, new
content-management tool Contribute. In the first
Macromedia-authorized book to cover this natural pairing, veteran
author Joseph Lowery shows you how to develop Dreamweaver
Web sites that anyone can update and maintain via Contribute.
Through a series of project-based tutorials, Joseph shows you how
to take advantage of the programs' shared check-in/check-out and
versioning systems, integrated administration, and myriad other
complementary features to create sophisticated, unbreakable sites
that are a breeze for content creators and administrators alike.
You'll also find lessons on handling server-side includes,
establishing CSS guidelines, working with external documents,
creating and using templates, and more! A companion CD includes all
the lesson files you'll need to complete the book's
projects.**Please note: The lessons in the
book—and their accompanying files—build upon one
another. The basic files are contained in Lesson 2 which, as
instructed, are used to create the basic Dreamweaver site. Each
subsequent lesson's files are copied on top of the site; the lesson
files are stored in the appropriate folders to make copying a
one-step operation. Reader Reviews From Amazon (Ranked by 'Helpfulness') Average Customer Rating: based on 6 reviews. Waste of time, 2006-05-25 Reviewer rating: I was starting to wonder if I just had a mental block with Dreamweaver and Contribute. I've been working on the Web since 1994, but always edit source code (mostly PHP/XHTML/CSS). I wanted to investigate this as a management combination for a large Web site, but couldn't get past the first four pages of chapter three. Lo and behold, everyone else is having the same problem, so I don't feel so stupid. This book is impenetrable. | good book, 2005-08-16 Reviewer rating: I agree with previous reviewers that this book is not perfect, but I don't think it is that bad and as far as its goal of helping users learn Contribute and integrate with Dreamweaver, this book meets its goal. I found it very helpful and would strongly recommend it for organizations using the Macromedia platform. | very good tutorial book, 2005-01-22 Reviewer rating: I write and design instructor-led course books for Macromedia. As I was writing my course I found Joe's book an invaluable resource for self-paced tutorial work. The hands-on exercises enable you to perform work in a cumulative style that helps you get a real-world sense of development and maintenance using Contribute 3. | Terrible Book, 2004-12-30 Reviewer rating: I agree with the two previous reviewers. Book is rife with incorrect instructions, lesson files are not correct either. Don't waste your time or money on this book. Got through chapter 3 and gave up. E-mailed the publisher and Macromedia about the poor quality of this book. | New files needed for download, 2004-12-27 Reviewer rating: Agree completely with first reviewer. Useless until new files are available. |
