This book was an excellent intro to C# if you are simply trying to learn to create GUI's in Visual Studio. There are, however, several important topics that I feel were covered in a very cursory manner such as delegates and event handlers which are among the most useful tools C# has to offer.

I am C programmer by day, so switching to C# wasn't a huge stretch, but there are definitely some things to learn, especially in the IDE itself. This book was perfect for what I needed. It got me up and running in Visual Studio C#, helped me use the various GUI elements, and really created a strong base in the language. It really is the perfect C# book to start with. I even still use it for reference on occasion so it is worth keep around after the fact.

This book is a great way to get up to speed in using Visual C# 2005 to develop C# applications. I finished in less than a week and am on to other things now (like an in-depth exposure to C#, the language). I've been doing software since 1971 and I'm re-inventing my career. This has been a good start for me.

I guess this book does what it intends to do, teach you C# in 24 1-hour lessons. But I would recommend it only for programming beginners.
If you know a lot of other languages as I did, reading about FOR loops and arithmetic operators doesn't offer anything. There are several errors, but these may have been fixed in the newer edition.
The C# coding techniques are great. But I will now have to look for a more advanced C# programming book.
