A lot of text that's spread out and difficult to follow. Would have been nice to see more examples. eg, constructing drop down menus section provides a lot of text but few examples to carry you through to actually creating drop down menus. More how to and less theory would be helpful.

This book was a total failure and utterly devoid of structural instructions which would take an intermediate person from frontpage 2000 to 2003! It seem to be predicated with giving information in a BACKWARD fashion interwoven in such a way that left me more confused and dissatified! If I were to grade this book, I would give it a double triple FFF of the lowest order. How serious am I, well I intend to buy another frontpage book, and I am a senior citizen on SS and money is very scarce!
I bet the author Mr. Buyen is a self-service pompus conservative nitwit who is 400 pounds overweight!!

This book is a masterpiece of tech writing. I continually would find myself asking a question when, in the next paragraph or page, it was answered completely. Usually there is a very general intro to a feature to get you used to an idea and then, later in the book, a wealth of detail on how it works.
Though the program has been succeeded by Expression Web, FP2003 can still do quite a bit, including CSS2 and with an interface that frees you from coding. Far from a dead program, FP has features that keep on giving in 2009, the date of this review. It has a huge number of features that can seem a bit confusing at first because they are often accessible in more than one way. But once you get your favorite method worked out, you can fly.
Buyens is my guru for FP. Not only does he tell you how things work but often adds background to explain why. The clarity of his writing, the organization of the book and the illustrations that conform precisely to what you see in the program make it well worth the purchase price. His description of CSS, both 1 and 2 stand out apart from the way they are applied by FP. I have yet to find anything about FP2003 that cannot be answered in Inside Out, a real gold mine.
Just make sure you have a sturdy bookshelf to support this beast.

I love this book!! It's the advanced-FrontPage that was missing from the other books I have. Having read other manuals I had a basic understanding, so am not sure if that has helped. This book tells all the missing pieces and goes more into depth about potential issues. There's also a ton of extra tricks & tools on the CD that comes with the book. The book is huge so be prepared for a lot of reading - but it is also a great quick reference. I find myself going beyond my current issue and reading on and on because it is so fascinating. If you only buy 1 FrontPage instruction book - this is the one!

The definitive resource for FrontPage. This book is huge and covers both simple and technically involved tasks. Good organization and indexes helps you find the subject quickly. Better than other books I found at my library. Note: FrontPage is no longer being developed. The 2003 version was the last. If you want to learn web software and you do not own FrontPage, I suggest you invest in Dreamweaver instead.
