Not what I thought it shuold be., 2009-05-10
Reviewer rating:
I bought this book thinking it would fill in the gaps I needed to sit for the 70-270 exam. Sadly, this book does not contain all of the content required to pass the exam.

As a beginner's introduction to XP, it is ok at best, if you like to be spoon-fed information. Very little explanation is given to most topics; instead simple step by step walk throughs are provided.

As a resource to pass the 70-270 exam, this book is useless. It does not cover some of advanced items, such as configuring and securing VPN, and the practise exam provided by measure up and the book don't agree on certain items. For example, the minimum disk requirements for a Windows XP installation.

All in all a very disappointing and unprofessional approach to a book sold in the context of a Self Paced Training Kit for the 70-270 exam.
Pretty much the almanac for Windows XP, 2009-03-20
Reviewer rating:
This book covers it all, but do not use test engine CD that comes with this book. IMHO the questions are extremely impractical and difficult. It in no way reflects the real exam.

Over all service was good, only problem was the damage to the books binding will shorten the life of the book.
Solid book, 2009-03-15

Took my test on Feb 27, 2009 and passed. This book I feel does a good job covering the material necessary. I do have a lot of experience with XP so it was really boring to read all of this but I felt I had to so I didn't miss any small detail. We all know how MS Tests are, nothing is so important as the trifles.
I also used Transcender study guide and practice test which was a VERY valuable tool in addition. The combo gave me a 952 out of 1000! :-D
Great book, 2009-02-18
Reviewer rating:
This book is straight forward. Its is clear, simple and easy to understand.

One big advantage..the WinXp evaluation cd. Helped me loads

You may require additional material to sharpen your knowledge on WinXp.

I recommend you complete all the practice in this book and do some further reading to be fully prepared for 70-270
