Bought it. Read it. Outlined it. Memorized the Questions. Passed the Test. $30 bucks and I'm 1/4 of the way to CCNP. 'Nuff said. Peace.

way to many errors! - 2005-12-04

I read the study guide first and now I'm preping to take the test in 1 week so I figured I would read through this book. It is so full of errors that I have to check almost everything I read against the cisco press study guide. The bummer is that I do like how it's written in an easy to understand format, I just can't trust it.
Don't waste your money on this one....

Not your only study resource! - 2005-02-19

I would not recommend using this book as your only study resource for the BSCI exam. It does not cover the areas deep enough. I used the Exam Cram series 3 years ago to obtain my CCNP, and the books were solid. After reading this book to update my Cert, I was very disappointed.

You may be considering this book because it is the cheapest offering for the BSCI 642-801 exam. I have almost 30 years IT experience, about 7 years of Cisco experience, my employer needed me to take the BSCI test, I bought this book, studied it, failed the exam. I then bough the Cisco self-study guide, studied it, and passed with a score of 850 or so. I didn't even work thru the many labs in the Cisco guide.

The problem with the Exam Cram 2 guide is that it just doesn't go into enough detail on the material it covers, and it doesn't cover all the material on the test. Also, as others have said it has many errors, especially the practice test, so much so that it is worthless for practice.

The Exam Cram book is about 9" x 6" and around 450 pages. The Cisco study guide is about 10" x 7" and almost 1000 pages. The Cisco book costs almost three times as much as the Exam Cram book, but it's definitely worth it, in addition to prepping you for the test it is organized well enough to be a valuable reference in the future.

Why bother reading the book when you know it all. - 2004-03-27

I am amazed at some reviews that appear on these pages. A previous reviewer claims to have spotted numerous and repeated errors in this book. If he knew that much before he read it why was he/she bothering? Plainly he had the measure of the exam already? Of course the review is virtually once again anonymous, I wonder why? The simple fact is that the claimed errors do not exist in such quantity although like in any technical book I have read there are some. I can only conclude that once again by awarding one star and a few pithy remarks there is a clear effort to dump on a good book for reasons other than reality. Don't be had, you can't do better at the price. Five stars.
