I have been using Computers since 1974 using Texas Instruments and basic... before Macintosh and Microsoft. Although I had CS3 Web Premium (mainly for Photoshop), I have little to no knowledge of Dreamweaver. I thought I could use any program easily. Well, I failed miserably and thought this program was TOO HARD TO LEARN! I have since switched to Macintosh and upgraded to CS5.
With the above in mind, I bit the bullet searching for a basic video to learn Dreamweaver and found this.
From the start it seemed close to condescending with a some humor close to diabetic... but now I feel comfortable and trust her. I'm only up to Chapter 4 but now have a VERY GOOD GRASP ON THE BASICS which I know know is where the title comes in... ESSENTIAL. She covered every one of my questions without being in a classroom. She set up a logical sequence to future chapters somehow knowing I wanted to dive right in with the advanced section to make blistering hot web pages. But each chapter tells me to be patient because the basics are more important than the really cool bells and whistles. Without the bottom dwelling dweeb section (which I proudly declare to be), I will never succeed at the blistering hot web graphics.
So... for those truly wanting to learn to become a great designer, humble yourself and watch this. You'll accomplish more in 30 minutes that you ever would opening the start page and naming your first website.

I learned a lot in the 2 days it took me to take this training.
The examples and naration were on point and covered a lot of material. And if you go to Janine's website: www.digitalfamily.com there is even more guidance.
This is a great start on getting down to being productive with Dreamweaver.
