It was 4AM and i had been at it for hours. The XML web-service client code was stumping me and I knew it was my failure to understand something fundementals about SimpleXml and how it operates. This is the reference that saved me. Again.

I find myself self reaching (virtually) for this book in combat. It combines fundementals with practical examples with a real-developer perspective. I have ended up with a strong XML foundation and insight into XML & how to handle it in PHP.

Production programmers need more books like this. In our world we don't have time to read 4 chapters to obtain a solution. The author writes in a more granular fashion than most; providing the fundementals and examples to re-apply a solution. It is NOT a cookbook, but somewhere in-between a topical reference and an intermediate-level explanation of the big pictures.

Throw this in your favorites, read the first couple of chapters, and then count on it when you're in challenging situations.
