Classroom in a Book, the world's best-selling series of hands-on software training workbooks, just got better. Classroom in a Book offers what no other book or training program does-hands-on training materials developed by the software training experts at Adobe Systems, and then tested and refined in Adobe's own classrooms and labs. Classroom in a Book covers a wide range of features, tools, and techniques of Adobe PageMaker 6.5 or later. Even if you are familiar with Adobe PageMaker, take the time to review all the lessons-you'll be surprised by how much you learn! If you are a novice, work with each lesson as many times as you want, and then move on to the next lesson. By the end of the book, you'll know After Effects like a pro!

A professor's take on this book - 2002-11-07

This is the kind of book you use if you have time to go through all of the tutorials in order- I use it in a specific Pagemaker class and we go through the Lessons 1 at a time. I wouldn't recommend this as a reference book though- as something to look up specific things and how to do them one at a time.
I do have to say, this book is pretty borning, dryly written and doesn't touch on a lot of the more creative ways Pagemaker can be used. A book called Adobe Pagemaker Basics is a good companion to this, with info on color and drawing in Pagemaker. It's hard to sit and read this book straight through and not want to eat your head. You'd need a lot of discipline and motivation to get through this outside of a class. Rather than being a classroom in a book I'd call this a "book for a classroom".

Bad Binding - 2002-12-17

Get this book but reinforce the binding. It will tend to fall to pieces after a few weeks of use. In other words the "perfect binding" is less than perfect.

This book is perfect for jumping in and learing just what pagemaker can do...a great way for the novice to get started. For more detailed information, an additional reference book will probably be needed for in-depth learning. It served my needs perfectly.

A terrific book for a terrific program. - 2003-06-29

I've been using Pagemaker since the original beta release by Aldus for the MacIntosh. Still, each revision of Pagemaker forces me to spend time learning the changes. Fortunately, the crew at Adobe knows how to help an old dog learn new tricks.

Regardless of your expertise this book is sure to quickly teach you how to be more productive in a shorter time than most any other method.

I urge all PM users to buy this book.
