I purchased 4 copies of "Crazy For The Storm" to read and give as gifts to friends. I read about
Norman Ollestad's experience on the internet and felt led to know his story. I loved the book
in many ways. Simply knowing that he was only 11 years of age at the time is enough to compel
one to want to know--how in the world did he survive? But, there's much more to the story. I
gave it to friends who have a love of the outdoors, wilderness, extreme-sports, etc..., so
that they could see how those experiences may in fact prepare their children for any potential
future in which they must face surviving against the odds.

This is the perfect introductory book to Reason 4.0. This book will get you up and running with Reason 4.0 very quickly and is a great reference. I've never touched Reason before and this book made learning the software a breeze. My understanding about synthesis has increased exponentially. If Reason 4.0 is the first version of Reason you have ever used, I would highly recommend this book. If you have used previous versions of Reason then this book does cover the new features in 4.0 but most of it will be old news to you.

It's rare that a how-to book that hits the narrow space in between "boring and dry with volumes of info" and "witty, well-written, and interesting". This book does just that and knows just where to draw the line when it comes to withholding information.
Any Reason user can tell you that the program suffers from an exploding overabundance of options. If you're a novice, those options can be so intimidating that you may give up on the software before you get going. If you're a professional those options are just what you want, but sometimes can get a little confusing (even for the most jaded of us). "Reason 4 Power!" walks the reader from introductory level to advanced intermediate/early expert if they stick with it and read the ENTIRE book. There are a couple of chapters that could be a bit longer, but, in truth, those chapters could be a book in themselves (using Thor, for example). The author had to limit the number of pages and he makes the most out of what is there.
I was confident in my ability with Reason as I started reading the book, but knew there was more to know. I had no idea how much more. "Reason 4 Power!" will open your eyes up to the universe of creativity at your fingertips every time you launch Reason. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I am familiar with Reason from when I bought a Digidesign Pro Tools M-Box a few years ago which came bundled with Reason Adapted, which is like "Reason-Lite". I was always interested in using Reason but never got my head around it. I recently upgraded to Reason 4 and decided to buy this book. I'm glad I did. It's very thorough and easy to understand. The author is able to be very specific and technical and still make it easy to read.
I recommend the book.
