A bestselling Six Sigma author tells employees everything they need to know about the Lean Six Sigma strategy
Lean Six Sigma combines the two most important and popular quality trends of our time: Six Sigma and Lean Production. What Is Lean Six Sigma? is a simple primer on Lean Six Sigma, written for employees and designed to be bought in large quantities by organizations rolling out Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
The book explains why companies are implementing Lean Six Sigma, why employees should care, and how they can help make it a success in their organization, with tips on how to:
Battle the "evil of variation" in a business process and eliminate waste
Speed up the product development cycle
Reduce costs dramatically in one year

I'm sorry but this book lacks any depth at all. I would recommend not buying this book. This is superficial coverage and should only be read by those who know absolutely nothing about quality management.

Although I have been Lean Six Sigma practioner for many years, this book is a great summary of the philosophy/methodology. The authors don't waste time debating the different between the two methodsologies. They focus on how Lean Six Sigma can help organizations make improvements (on a high-level).
Very easy read with a greate tone to the book. - 2009-06-29

I expected a short review of lean Six Sigma, but mostly found a quick reminder of some of the basic fundamentals of Six Sigma. For the long time Quality professional, this book is an expanded reminder of the foundational aspects of our movement. For the investment of time, it is worth while, however "What is Lean Six Sigma?" is more for the Six Sigma novice.
