The Change in Society

The local movement is pushing a transition in society, one that looks a lot like a small town. The renewed interest in healthy neighborhoods, shopping local and supporting small businesses brings every company back to a small town environment. With public trust and global supply chains stressed, small is back as an alternative in business.

Rule 6: Be proud of being small. This is where the opportunities are in the next decade

1. Build community, be involved. Come down from the balcony and join the crowd. Let go of the idea of broadcasting one message to a uniform audience. Start making connections with people as individuals to build community. That starts with being friendly, building for the long term, sharing meals, being honest, watching out for others, being helpful, valuing neighbors, getting involved, playing together, having chance encounters, letting others step up and lead, and celebrating together.
