Overview

Dreamweaver CS3, now included as part of Adobe's Creative Suite 3, is the leading professional Web design and development application in the market, and is a must-have tool for any Web designer or developer. Dreamweaver CS3 offers new CSS layouts, a unified CSS panel, and CSS visualization tools that let users create interactive Web sites without having to delve into code. Dreamweaver users can now create dynamic interfaces using the Spry framwork for Ajax. (Spry is 99% HTML, so it's accessible to both designers and developers). Spry widgets (pre-built user interface components) let users quickly add common user interface components to Web pages. Each chapter in this full-color book contains a project that builds upon the reader's growing knowledge of Dreamweaver, while review questions at the end of each chapter reinforce the most important skills. Readers will learn how to customize a Dreamweaver workspace, apply cascading style sheets, enter headline and body text, insert graphics and rollovers, and add links to a page. They'll also learn how to add interactive elements to their site, such as behaviors, effects, and Flash video; add new code or code snippets; and publish their finished site to the Web.

SPECIAL NOTE: Before starting the lessons in the book visit www.peachpit.com/dwcs3cib for important lesson and project file updates.

Dreamweaver classroom in a book, 2009-05-14
Reviewer rating:
I like the Classroom in a book set-up. Easy to follow with sample lessons on CD. This is my second (already have Photoshop) in the series.
MAC Users Beware!, 2009-03-12
Reviewer rating:
If you're a Mac user beware of this book. I just started studying this book and there are so many mistakes and complication with this book. It says it's been made for both OS Windows & Mac but obviously it was made to specify the Windows over Mac. The instructions are so confusing for the Mac, I'm at a lost on some of them. I am aware that you have to download some updates that they made to this book (www.peachpit.com.dwcs3cib/) of course to download you must purchase this book. If this is just the beginning of the book I'm afraid to see what awaits for me at the bend. I am definitely getting a different book even though I will finish this one and learn what not to do!!!!!!

Keep shopping, this book gets bad in the late lessons (to little explaination), 2009-03-06
Reviewer rating:
This book was OK at best up until they got to lesson 8 where things turned South fast... They tell you what to do but give very little explanation of why and in the late lessons with "spry's" they give hardly and explaination of how to make a spry. They also show you how to make a form... BUT they said that making it functional is beyond the expanse of the book. I have done a lot of tutorials in my life and this one very poor. I hope you don't throw good money away. The "visual quickstart" books are always good and I just bought the Lynda H.O.T. book by Garrick Chow with video lessons (haven't started it yet)... The bottom line is It kind of sucked that I had to spend more money to learn it because the "classroom in a book" was so poorly done"
CS3 Classroom In A Book, 2009-03-05
Reviewer rating:
Adobe has tried to rely on the mere fact that they are Adobe to get away with this less than mediocre book. One can indeed work through it, do the exercises, but the book makes very little attempt to explain the various processes involved.

This book shows you step by step how to use DW. It is amazing how simple this book makes building web pages.
