Overview

Dreamweaver has been the tool of choice for professional Web site designers for years. And now that it is part of the Adobe Creative Suite, even more users, including beginning Web designers, will find it in their hands. This book is for them--all of the people who are itching to design their very first Web site but don't want to learn every last Dreamweaver feature to do so. This full-color volume guide offers them the quickest route to creating a well-designed, friendly Web site! Each short chapter uses big, bold screen shots and step-by-step instructions to illuminate one aspect of this process. By the end of the volume, users will create a simple Web site, fill it with text, graphics and tables, use style sheets, create image maps, add navigation and links, and test and publish the final product. Timely tips and occasional sidebars detailing good design practices round out the book.

Nice illustrations but a bit light on explanations - 2009-09-14

The book has great illustrations that attempt to lead you through the process of creating a website with Dreamweaver. Along with the Dummies Guide to Dreamweaver, it is a good combination but I do not feel it is a good stand-alone reference with clear explanations of the design process using the program. So I would recommend it with those reservations.

Great Stater Guide to Dreamweaver Web Design - 2009-06-10

This book turned out to be a life saver for me. I took a multimedia design class in school and one of the projects was designing a web site using Dreamweaver. Our teacher thought two short class days was enough to teach us everything and sent us on our way. I went and bought this book to supplement what she taught us and learned so much. I was even able to help other students in class finish their projects. This book is a great entry level guide to Dreamweaver. If you're looking for advanced techniques you won't find it here, but if you're looking for a basic walkthrough of the the most commonly used features, this is the book for you.

First aid for new web designers - 2009-04-02

Without this little gem I would still be at the starting gate. It provided a kinder simpler description of what to do to get started and then some. The emphasis being on the some. I now use it with its companion copy the bigger PeachPit Dreamweaver CS3 guide. It all makes more sense, and saves time and frustration. A little miracle!

Decent idea, but it falls short by a mile - poor editing - 2008-06-23

The files that accompany the book are terribly organized, and are sometimes wrong. (Example: p 52 is supposed to have a file about an itinerary. Although the name of the file is correct, it is a Food Diary.) I followed the author's instructions to contact him regarding errors, but the e-mail bounced back. I called Peach Pit and only got an answering machine. The book feels thrown together, the author's website is very defensive, and I will not use this book again for classes that I teach.

Waste of money - 2008-05-21

While I usually enjoy the Visual Quickstart books in general, I was disappointed in this guide because of gross errors and example data. Perhaps this author didn't have a hand in the editing and error checking but this was painful to use. I paid full price in a bookstore for this book. I should have paid used price on Amazon. It's almost worth $7.00! I gave two stars because of the excellent graphics in the book.
