Most of this stuff still applies to later versions and even Final Cut Express. It's a great resource for when you want to know something fast. It spells it all out in clear and easy to understand language.

Lisa Brenneis' FINAL CUT PRO 6 is a terrific reference book for those wending their way through FCP. The font style is clear, her writing precise & concise, with each page (mostly) noting a helpful "tip" or a shortcut that you may not have been aware of.

This book is much better than the rambling, poorly written manuals that come with FCP; and, you always have to have all volumes in front of you at all time plus the index is in the last volume!

I recommend Brenneis' book for the pro or the novice.

I had used the Final Cut Suite briefly and decided to buy a couple of supplemental guides here on Amazon. I don't recommend this book, especially for a completely new user. The instructions are repetitive of the Final Cut user manuals (and the Final Cut user manuals happen to be visually better and easier to understand than this book). Also, the screenshots in this book are extremely tiny and the entire book is in black and white and printed on low-quality paper. There is hardly any mention of the other applications in the Final Cut Suite. Overall, this is a so-so book.

On the other hand, I also purchased Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro 6 which shares the same publisher as this book (PeachPit Press). It's hands-down way better than this book. Do a search on Amazon for "Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro 6 by Diana Weynand" and buy that one instead.

as a new Mac and FCP user, this book was a must. FCP is not very user friendly to learn and a lot of the methods are not intuitive at all. this book spells it out in plain easy to apply examples.

This is a very comprehensive step by step instructional book. I've always been a fan of the Visual Quickstart/pro
guides and this one definitely met my expectations.
