8.2. Working with LGPOs

You control LGPOs using a few tools on your Windows computer. Depending on which LGPO you want to manage and configure, you will need to select the appropriate tool. There is not a default LGPO management tool, and you cannot access any of the LGPOs from the Start menu or Administrative Tools.

To better understand how to access the LGPOs, it is first important to understand the different levels of LGPOs that can be configured. Before Windows Vista, there used to be a single LGPO that controlled the computer and every user who logged onto the computer. This was not very flexible or efficient, because every user, administrator and nonadministrator, were controlled the same way. Now there are three levels:
