What Should We Be Doing to Comply with Legislation?

As noted above, all employers have a legal responsibility to ensure the health and safety of their employees while at work. This includes preventing or minimizing the exposure to stress at work. Please note that the law may be subject to change and therefore it is important to keep up to date with any changes that may affect your business.

Directors, Human Resource and Occupational Health professionals need to:

  • monitor the key indices of work-related stress (e.g., absence, turnover, conflict, performance);
  • ensure the health and safety policy addresses work-related stress;
  • ensure that risk assessments for work-related stress have been carried out;
  • ensure that where risks to health and well-being or stressors have been identified, recommendations to minimize the risk have been implemented;
