You cannot even get past the first chapter because it is so outdated. Also, the author does nothing about getting your environment setup, yet makes several assumptions about your configuration

Head First Rails was an excellent introduction into both Rails and Ruby. Luckily people already proficient in Ruby won't get bored, but those with no knowledge will still be able to work alongside the activities. Head First Rails covers everything you need to know about making a very basic dynamic web app and covers development paradigms that are heavily enforced (or should be) in the industry.
Unfortunately Head First Rails isn't an all in one book, it lacks coverage on several topics such as Sessions, Helper Methods (throughout the book the reader will use about 10), and alternatives to various default Rails pieces (i.e. ERB).
David Griffiths is off to a great start, I would ask for a sequel to cover more, but unfortunately Rails 3 has come out and the two books would likely be rather incompatible.
