This is a good all around guide. This is a book designed for outlook beginners. Also touches on some more advanced topics. This is not an all in 1 guide for outlook 2007 but summarizes many things well.

The book is extra ordinary, easy to use and as detailed as you desire to go. In addition it offers a CD-ROM with an array of goodies. For me the print templates were of great value. I can highly recommend the title as you will find an answer for almost anything related to Outlook.

MS Office Outlook 2007 Inside Out easily maintains the high standard of usefulness of the Inside Out series. I found this volume very helpful when installing Outlook 2007.

as bloated as the software - 2009-09-30

Outlook is a powerful but confusing program with functions buried deep in menus and difficult to find. I switched back to Outlook after 7 years using Eudora and was looking for a simple, easy to use book to help me quickly learn how to do specific functions. This is not it. The book is over 1000 pages of light gray print with cramped hard to read light gray illustrations. I found some topics difficult to find and many of the explanations overly wordy. The section on backing up data for example is 6 convoluted pages that may put you to sleep before you learn how to do it. The book is loaded with useless commentary such as "Tasks won't do you much good if you just put a few on your task bar and don't really use them". It is from Microsoft Press so there is no mention of any of the programs failings (such as the inability to print a page range) and little mention of 3rd party add-ins. Although the book is comprehensive and some of it served my purpose, it is not the clear, succinct, step by step guide needed to learn the software.

It's large and technical. I've not been through all of it, but so far it has answered my questions.
