After struggling with this book's examples and exercises, I would recommend looking elsewhere if you've never used DTS before.
If you have a good working knowledge of DTS, this book is tolerable. The exercises on the CD are riddled with errors. The errata page is over 13 printed pages! The only redeeming quality is that you will learn more by fixing the errors in the exercises, than reading the book.
IMPORTANT TIP: When troubleshooting the CDROM, make sure you install the latest SQL Server 2005 Service Packs as a first step in troubleshooting, or the examples might not work.

Many Amazon reviews touch on this, but the QA review on this material was noticeably lacking.
Aside from the errors, I was also dissapointed with the explainations of what was going on. In the first two chapters the author repetedly will say "Double click to open up X. Look at it. Now close it". No explaination of what the reader is looking at or why. Sure, one is learning how to dig into things, but without explaination, how helpful is it really?
I believe I saw a positive review that says readers should always expect to deal with the errors and discrepancies between the book and cd when dealing with technical books, and I must whole-heartedly dissagree. Would you pay to watch a movie in the cinema, only to be expected to go online prior to viewing to be told what the story was? Or, perhaps a more relative example, would you pay to attend a college course, only to have to constantly go to the library to check on what the professor teaching it got wrong? I think not.
