Great!, 2009-05-22
Reviewer rating:
I am a web designer beginner, but this book send me many steps higher up.
Best book on EW2 I've seen, 2009-05-21
Reviewer rating:
This is a well-organized and well written book on EW 2. There aren't many on the new version and the versions differ enough to need a new book.

I've purchased two others and I've found all I really needed was this one. The included CD is also very useful - nice to not have to go and download the files the book references. Plus some decent software.

In short - it's the only book I needed on the subject. Thanks.
Special Edition Expression Web, 2009-03-23
Reviewer rating:
I was expecting a couple of disks with this special edition, it only came with one. The book is everything as promised but if you are buying the Special Edition to get the extra disks, they aren't there.
Loved it. , 2009-02-04
Reviewer rating:
I fall into the category of "more experienced reader" and would agree that a total beginner may not do well with this book. However, that DOES NOT make it a bad book. On the contrary, this is a GREAT book for those that know their way around the technologies involved.

I liked Jim Cheshire's writing style. I thought the book flowed quite nicely and personally appreciated the lack of hand-holding. I read it from cover to cover and know that I will also be referring back to it from time to time.

The author includes a TON of extras (tips, resources etc.) that are worth bookmarking until the time comes when you need them.

The next time I need a technical manual or reference book I will certainly look to see if Jim Cheshire has written on the subject of interest.
I'm Disappointed, 2009-01-17
Reviewer rating:
As has been pointed out in other reviews, this book is pretty disorganized. Another reviewer suggested relying heavily on the index. I wanted to get a better understanding of "div's". Divs are pretty much the backbone of CSS design - most all content is wrapped in a div. The index only directs you to 2 pages for divs in the entire book and one of those two is using divs in AJAX. It does say see "Layers" and layers are listed on maybe 10 or 12 pages, but not all divs are layers. In my opinion this book does not go into sufficient detail on any one thing, but it glosses over many. There is some helpful information here if you seek it out, but I find myself thinking that if I just turn the page I'll find an example or a step by step on how to do something, but by then the author has moved onto something else. Honestly, I've found a number of free video tutorials on line that pretty much make this book a paperweight.
I was hoping this was the only Expression Web 2 book I would have to buy, but I'm looking around for a more useful one.
