This book gives you a great overview of how SAP came about, why its needed, and all of the ingredients that make up a SAP system.
It lacks technical details and there are few screen shots but it is a good overall basic understanding of SAP.

I bought this book to get familiar with SAP. So far I've read more than 100 pages and I've yet to see a single example of an input screen, or of output from the system. What I have seen is irritating advertising. "The Master Guides are worth their weight in gold (p. 58). "SAP ERP HCM is rather amazing" (p. 111). "Materials Management saves time and money" (p. 115) The purchasers should be the judge of all that, but they have to learn and use the system first, and I've learnt very little detail so far.

Not like some other reviewers, I like the variety of in this book. I'm a technical person on the fringe of SAP and this books exactly what I needed to feel ready to know it better. They cover it wide and still very detailed considering how big SAP is. I have sevewral other SAP books and think this is the best of them.

Reasons for not buying this book.
1) Very repetitive. Many information are presented twice, three times, four times... Sometimes they didn't have the minimum care to change the phrase.
2) Target audience badly defined. If you intend to become a functional consultant, the information is shallow. If you intend to be a programmer or technical consultant, the information is almost useless: it is not a guide, given technical information is few, nor a conceptual guide. If you are a project manager, there are tons of better information than this book
3) Lack of consistence between chapters - probably a consequence of too many authors for very few information. It is clear the writing style vary a lot among chapters.
4) Merchandising - sometimes seems like those fliers or white papers to sell products.
Worst of all, te book lacks of an overall structure. I had the impression each author wrote his content separately then they put things "together" without a review. Even the first chapters that are supposed to give an overview lacks of better structure. Also better diagrams and figures could be worthy the thousands of shallow and repetitive words.
One of the worst books I've seen ever.
