CHAPTER 6 The Ceremony > DIY Idea: Group Shot of Two!

DIY Idea: Group Shot of Two!

It is common for wedding shooters to cram all the wedding guests into one shot—a big group shot of everyone at the wedding. One very fun DIY idea is a twist on the traditional group shot: having a group shot…of the couple. Almost all the guests have cameras or camera phones with them; with a little bit of effort, you can maximize that photo-taking power and create a fun and beautiful piece for your couple.

To begin, create a small printout—maybe just business-card size—asking each of your guests to take a picture of the couple just as they give each other their first kiss; then place the printout on every seat at the ceremony. Make sure the printout provides your email address so that participating guests can send you a picture file. (See Figure 6.13.) You’ll get dozens of different shots of the same moment—different angles, different framing, different color tones. Print out all the images and put them in a collage of that exact moment for your couple. Using post-production tools (or simply a pen and paper), include the guest photographer’s names on their photo as a way to make the project even more intimate.
