A nice basic hands on introduction to MapReduce. The example is very standard (word counts) but it's nice that he shows how it is just done with two straightforward Python scripts and how you can use AWS to run the same process.

I was looking out for some basic understanding of M-R programming using Java, and I came across this video, where Pete had explained M-R in a very simplistic way without getting making things complex.

Frankly speaking, this video has given me the confidence to jump into M-R programming. :-)

Excellent use of day to day tools. wished he could go more about locality, clustering, and memory limits, as well as optimization of codes in these cases, could not get every thing from less than 2 Hour videos.

PROS:
- Very approachable and empowering progression from blank page to functioning program
- Knowledgeable presenter engaged by the topic

CONS:
- Last 20m don't really add much to the preceding 1.5h
- Wikipedia material doesn't properly convey scaling power of MapReduce. A few minutes discussing Elastic MapReduce under the sheets would have been better
