this book provides a quick review of some JavaScript syntax, and spends most of its focus on jQuery.
Full of samples of how to do common client-side tasks such as photo slide show, validation, AJAX, tabs, ^ tooltips.

I found the instructions for learning html, css, javascript and jquery shallow and severely limited that I cannot read it let alone recommend it. There simply isn't enough information about any of the technologies to be useful and it tries to pretent that they're so easy to learn. I think it would have been better to focus on readers with a specific knowledge level, say competency in html/css, and provide more in-depth instruction on Javascript and then some introductory jquery. This is more like trying to take a complete novice through html, css, javascript, and jquery in one book. Doesn't happen and isn't going to work.

This book gives you very practical examples to get you started on jQuery and javascript.
Unlike other books, it gives just sufficient depth in each topic to get a working and practical example. The other books on the subject I sampled before this overwhelm and discourage completion of them.
