"Code needs updating, will not run" - by Mark on 10-JAN-2013

This book was written when Windows 8 was still in beta, and some of the libraries still reference "metro" which no longer exists in filenames. I checked his source code which has not been updated. Bing search crashes and there is no way to figure out how to fix it.

"Code doesn't work." - by Marty on 07-NOV-2012

I could not even get through the first exercise. The author references files and classes that don't exist. But on top of that, he doesn't explain clearly what to do. Half the time I was trying to figure out where I'm supposed to put the code because the author didn't care to explain it. Can't believe this is an Oreilly title. Avoid.

I can't believe the author was able to pack so much useful information into just 108 pages.

Good, solid, very quick intro to Windows 8 features, plus a walk-through that shows how to build a trivial app using non-trivial features: MVVM, IoC, Messaging, and unit testing.
