Web apps would run much better if heavy calculations could be performed in the background, rather than compete with the user interface. With this book, you’ll learn how to use Web Workers to run computationally intensive JavaScript code in a thread parallel to the UI. If you have an intermediate to advanced understanding of JavaScript— especially event handling and callbacks—you’re ready to tackle Web Workers with the tools in this example-driven guide.

This book was a quick read. It covers the basics of web workers. The concepts of web workers are explained well in this book, and what you learn here is useful. Web workers are a small part of HTML5, so I think the size of the book is appropriate. I appreciated being able to find a book that concisely explained web workers and how to use them.
