Safari Books Online is a digital library providing on-demand subscription access to thousands of learning resources.
If you’re an experienced programmer interested in crunching data, this book will get you started with machine learning—a toolkit of algorithms that enables computers to train themselves to automate useful tasks. Authors Drew Conway and John Myles White help you understand machine learning and statistics tools through a series of hands-on case studies, instead of a traditional math-heavy presentation.

Tried to get through a couple of R reference books in the past but never made it past first chapter. I didn't want to learn R, I wanted to use R!
The book's example-driven introduction to machine learning was exactly what I needed. Enough of an R reference to allow you to start applying the concepts immediately.
Highly recommended.
