I really liked this book. It's easy to read and offers the basics of Arduino for the neofite.
The examples of the book are written in an incremental way, so you will start with a very basic design that only prints "Hello World" and end up with a full-fledged arduino connected to a lot of sensors communicating wirelessly to your computer.
