In this video, we dive deep into traditional web architectures and discuss what makes them go. Looking at real-life architectures, we analyze weak points and discuss what happens to them under the intense pressure of a prolonged exposure on Digg, the NYTimes or even MSN (or when traffic jumps from 15Mbits/second to over 1Gbit/second inside 30 seconds).

Impossible to listen to. He takes forever to get to what may have been possibly useful information, but he is so condescending and outirght nasty, the presentation is very unpleasant to listen to.

Theo in this couple of hours shows a very big amount of concepts taken from real experience, may be too fast for common people! I am impressed of the amount of information that Theo can give in only two hours. This video is valuable source of information for anyone involved in internet applications. Probably the best way to get advantage of this is to view it a couple of times at least and then go deeper on some preferred arguments. From Load Balancing thru routing(for availability), to database, web servers, messaging systems, capacity planning, common sense scaling. Best quote: "Some companies base their entire business models on the fact that they are idiots!" - So true.
A 360° approach to internet applications, "think as an engineer not as a programmer".

Watched the whole thing and was fascinated. Great information and great advice on the head space to be in when designing and building your systems.

I didnt even make it through the first 5 mins. and I cant stand this guy. He could be the best engineer in the world but until he loses that attitude he should try another medium.
