Perspectives on Information Infrastructures 2 3 4 Parenthetically, Vinton Cerf is now vice president and "chief Internet evangelist" for Google (Google website). This book is the most widely cited work on information infrastructure, as indicated by Ciborra (2001), and is presented here as the main representative of functionalist perspectives to understanding information infrastructure. The aspects discussed by Hanseth (2001) can be said to be representative of the work of Ciborra and associates (2001), as well as other sociotechnical perspectives by Hanseth and Monteiro (1997), Hanseth and Lundberg (2001), Rolland and Monteiro (2002), and Sahay, Monteiro, and Aanestad (2009) among others. It should be mentioned, however, that although largely influenced by Science and Technology Studies, the work by Hanseth, Ciborra, and colleagues also draws on ideas from Anthony Giddens and Ulrich Beck on risk society and reflexive modernization (see in particular Hanseth & Ciborra (Eds.), 2007). 39
