About the Contributors distributed systems, grid and cloud computing. His research interest are in the area of security, virtualiza- tion, migration, federation of distributed computing systems. He is one of the members of the MDSLab Computer Engineering group at the Università degli Studi di Messina. * * * Frederico Alvares de Oliveira Jr. is a PhD student in the ASCOLA research group (INRIA-Mines Nantes, LINA), in Nantes, France. He received his master degree in 2009 at the Aeronautics Institute of Technology - ITA, in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil, where he performed research on Dynamic Composition of Semantic Web Services. Currently, he is working on dynamic adaptation of component- based software in the context of cloud computing and energy efficiency. More precisely, he is studying the impacts of applications on cloud-based infrastructures and how such kinds of (component-based) applications should interact with underlying infrastructures to optimize their QoS and dynamically reconfigure to cope with energy constraints. David Breitgand is a research staff member at the IBM Haifa Research Lab. Dr. Breitgand has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. His research interests include cloud computing, end-to-end performance analysis, and management of networked systems. Since joining IBM in 2003, he worked on business driven IT optimization, SLA management, networked storage, and cloud computing.
