This is a good book to review for the ROUTE exam, but misses a few points. I followed-up using the Quick Reference for my final review and found a number of "new" items that I would have expected this book to cover.

I gotta say, none of Mr.Odom's book fail my expectations. The text is very informative as usual, I basically don't have a lot of questions after a chapter, even the entire book.
As for the DIKTA quiz, although difficult, it whips your brain to work, and a lot of times, I can find what I'm missing here. This is where you review what you've learned and take a good look at how far you have advanced into the networking world.
The reasons why I only gave this book 4 stars:
1) This is the first edition, so inevitably, there will be some errors here and there. There are not a lot of errors, at least not very major ones.
By the way, the errata for this book has now been published.
2) There are some areas that I think do require a little more attention.
- I only knew how to write ACL to filter IP address in CCNA, and in this book, there's been talks about ACL to filter routes, which was a little intimidating in the beginning. I sincerely hope Mr. Odom can add a section explaining the difference between the 2.
- Chapter 19 was a big, difficult chapter for someone who hasn't taken the CCNA concentrations. Well, it definitely was for me. The theory was not that hard to understand, but the commands presented are, well, kind of confusing and really new to me. Mr.Odom didn't really provide a clear explanation for their usage, by this, I mean what and why each command means in the configuration.
I hope those commands won't be tested in detail for the CCNP ROUTE exam because I really don't have a clear idea what each of them do.
But other than these, this is THE best CCNP ROUTE book out there. It takes you down deep into networking and give you a completely new perspective about routing. Believe me, if you are planning to take CCNP, whether the old or the new exam, it will be a regret not reading this fantastic book!!!!!
