This book is simple making it ideal for someone just starting out as it is easy to understand.

The book appears to focus on two types of readers: podcasters and aspiring singers who may want to burn a CD.

This suits me fine as I was looking for a basic recording book for my niece. She’s turning 14 and has aspirations of being a singer/ performing artist.

Carla explains how the program works and some basic digital audio principles.

She starts with a practical task and explains how to set levels, save and export. This is a must for someone who wants to get hands on quick.

She also explains basic microphones patterns, giving advice as to what mics would be suitable for what task encouraging readers to invest in the correct equipment.

This is not another how to set up a home recording studio book full of equipment you can not afford (or can't work).

It stays true to its title and is well worth a read.
