I have really enjoyed this book since when I have a problem with my camera settings I will pull this book out and I will usually find the answer to my question. My owners manual by the way I think I put it back in the box the camera came in since I have never been able to figure out my camera from it.

This book is very easy to follow and not boring like most other manuals. It provides a quick, systematic and effective reference to the D700 Manual. Since I read the book I've tried many functions I had been meaning to use but ccouldn't find a clear guidance from other manuals.

The book is comprehensive and covers every item in the menu of the D700. In that sense it duplicates the Nikon's D700 manual. However, it does explain the menu items a little bit better. What it often lacks is how and when to use the various menu items. OK, so I now know what this menu items does, but under what conditions would I want to use it. What is the effect? Since three quarters of the book is a description of the menu items, it makes for a boring read.

I will be purchasing the Nikon D700 as a second body to my existing Fuji S5. Each camera has specific advantages for certain applications. The reviews on the D700 have been excellent, but I wanted to explore the camera features in depth before moving forward with the purchase. This book provided exactly what I wanted for purposes of better understanding the capabilities of this camera in addition to being able to reduce my learning curve on navigating the menus and improving my proficiency on using the camera when it arrives. I would recommend this book to anyone who is considering or already owns this camera.
