WHAT IS AGILE?

Agile is a philosophy that uses organizational models based on people, collaboration and shared values (Source: PMI Agile Specification).

Agile is actually based on the solutions described above (How to Overcome the Limitations of Traditional Project management). Agile methodologies are adaptive rather than prescriptive. That is, the methodologies encourage evolution—modifying and or incorporating new practices and discarding practices that no longer work. ‘Agile methodologies generally promote a project management process that encourages frequent inspection and adaptation, a leadership philosophy that encourages teamwork, self-organization and accountability, ...’—Wikipedia http:/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agile_software_development.
