4.5 Run initial data collection The initial data collection should be performed in the following steps: 1. Observe transaction rate and response time. You can perform this from either the Recent Activity Display or Request/Transaction report as discussed in 3.2, "WebSphere Application Server monitoring" on page 44 and 3.3, "Generating performance report" on page 45. 2. If necessary, adjust the server group property threshold, as indicated by the result of your monitoring. 3. Set up recurring report generation. You might need a generic Request/Transaction report and TOP report to spot trends, initial problem determination and information collection. See 3.3, "Generating performance report" on page 45. 4. Leave monitoring on for at least 24 hours. 4.6 Collect performance reports The detailed data collection should be performed for any potential problem that the customer might have. The potential problem transaction can be analyzed
