Archived Logs

The capture process can be configured as a local capture or as a downstream capture in the RAC environment. When required, the capture process needs to mine all the archived logs, so the instance that is running the capture process needs to have access to archived log threads from all the other instances on a shared file system. When you’re using Streams, Oracle recommends that you not store the archived logs in the Flash Recovery Area (FRA). The FRA is a fixed-sized storage area, and the archived logs will be removed from FRA when the amount of space available becomes low, even when the capture process needs these logs to restart. You can define log_archive_dest_<n> parameter as an additional location where the capture process can independently access the archived log files.
