Creating the Virtual Machine Using a Template

Several tools are available to manage the Oracle VM environment. As with earlier chapters, all three methods for creating virtual machines using templates are covered: the VM Manager, OEM Grid Control, and the Oracle VM CLI. Regardless of the method chosen, the end result will be the same—a virtual machine created from a template.

Creating Virtual Machines Using the VM Manager

One of the most common methods of creating virtual machines is with the VM Manager. The VM Manager is included with Oracle VM and is easy to install and use. Throughout this book, you have seen numerous examples of the VM Manager.

To create a virtual machine from a template using the VM Manager, follow these steps:

1.  From the VM Manager Virtual Machines screen, click the Create Virtual Machine button. This will invoke the process to create a new virtual machine.
