Installing VM Manager

Installing the VM Manager is not a difficult process. Once the system has been properly configured for the installation, the installation itself is fairly straightforward. Only when you get to the stage where you are configuring Oracle VM does the complexity begin.

Installing and Configuring the OS for the Oracle VM Manager

Oracle recommends a minimal (default) Linux installation be used to install the Oracle VM Manager. Install Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) or Red Hat Enterprise Linux with the default packages. In addition, allocate hardware resources as shown earlier in this chapter. Once you’ve installed the base OS, you need to install libaio. It is best to use the version of libaio that comes with the Linux distribution. Navigate to the directory where this package is found (which CD it is on may vary, based on the version). Once there, install libaio using the rpm command as shown here:
