Brazil > BUSINESS CARDS

BUSINESS CARDS

Image Have your business cards formatted in advance with Portuguese on one side and your language (or English) on the other.

Image Cards are usually exchanged near the beginning of the meeting, just after everyone has been introduced, and are generally presented with one hand.

Image If titles such as Doctor or Professor are on the card, use them when addressing business acquaintances. People may sometimes introduce themselves using their titles and first names (e.g., Dr. João).

Marketing Note

Brazil is the largest country in Latin America, but Brazilians do not consider themselves Hispanic. They are more appropriately called Latinos, South Americans, or Lusophones (which means a person who speaks Portuguese). Although many Brazilians understand multiple languages, a common insult is to assume it is acceptable to try to communicate with Brazilians in Spanish, English, German, or Italian (which are all spoken to some degree in Brazil).
