Chapter 3. Linking Reports > Linking Reports to Other Reports

Linking Reports to Other Reports

One of the most common navigation requirements involving reports is to be able to navigate from one report to another, usually passing some filter values to the target report. Answers On Demand provides a navigate function that may be used to create this type of navigation. It is also possible to create links to other reports using a more manual process of building the Go URL within a column formula or narrative view in your report.

Navigate Function

The navigate functionality on report columns allows you to provide users with the ability to click on a value in order to run and possibly filter the current or another report. This is a highly flexible feature that allows you to create a series of reports that are all connected. You may also add multiple navigation targets to a single column. Many companies use this functionality to present data first at a high level and then navigate deeper and deeper into the data, moving from summary reports to detail reports.
