Creating Database Snapshots
In SharePoint 2010, you can create database snapshots of content databases using Windows PowerShell. A database snapshot is a read-only copy of a database as it was at the moment the snapshot was taken. Snapshots are very useful in backup and restore scenarios.
Note
Database snapshots are available only in the Enterprise and Developer editions of Microsoft SQL Server.
