Oracle Management Agents

Now that we have successfully installed and configured Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11g Release 1, we now must deploy the management agents to the servers we want to administer and monitor. But first let’s learn a little about these management agents.

Grid Control Management Agents are the means of monitoring and administration of targets managed by Oracle Grid Control. These agents are platform-specific; therefore, prior to deployment, you must download the appropriate binaries for the target system before performing any of the previous installation methods. The Management Agent binaries are available for download within the Grid Control UI after you click the Download Management Agent link on the Deployments tab; alternatively, the Management Agents can be manually downloaded from OTN. At a high level, four methods are available to deploy a Grid Control Management Agent:
