Past Image (PI) blocks and block written records (BWR) optimize the block transfer between instances and guarantee faster block recovery during instance failures in high-concurrency environments. Newly improved dynamic remastering and read-mostly affinity algorithms reduce the messages between master and requestor on some specific conditions.

The background processes Lock Manager Demon (LMD) and Global Cache Services (GCS) handle the block and lock transfers between the instance and play a major role in the implementation of Cache Fusion between the instances. The DIAG process enhances diagnosability, and the LCK processes play a major role in Cache Fusion recovery.
