Securing Communication with SSL

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) provides a mechanism for two systems connecting over the network to authenticate against each other and establish a secure channel for communication by encrypting the data exchanged between the two parties. It is the most widely used transport-level data-communication protocol providing support for authentication, confidentiality, message integrity, and secure cryptographic key exchange between client and server. Here are the key aspects of SSL:

Image Data encryption Ensures that the data exchanged between the two parties is encrypted and can only be read by the intended recipient. SSL supports many different encryption algorithms, and the choice of algorithm is determined by the two parties in the initial SSL handshake when the secure channel is being established.
