Foreword

I’ve had a long history with the products that now make up Oracle Fusion Middleware, starting with joining the early WebLogic team, joining BEA via acquisition, leaving BEA to pursue some other ventures, and later joining Oracle just as it was acquiring BEA. During this time, I’ve watched the products evolve into a market-leading portfolio of middleware.

I now have the pleasure of leading a portion of the Middleware team, including a team that has responsibility for product managing software lifecycle features across the Fusion Middleware and Fusion Applications product lines. In this capacity, I’ve come to know many of the authors and editors of this book. I can attest to the fact that there is no finer team of technologists to author this book; individually and collectively, they are the masters of the subject area. These are the people who are tasked here at Oracle to lead product improvements and the same experts to whom I frequently turn for answers myself.
