Technical Design and Project Delivery Strategies
o far, we have described the overall approach to BPM in Chapter 9, and then we drilled into the critically important details of business process identification and selection in Chapter 10. In this chapter, we will look at the engineering details required to make the process executable. Here we will identify all the activities in a business process engineering life cycle, the roles required to support it, and finally discuss how to apply these activities using established project methodologies.
Chapter 9 included a high-level description of program-level concerns for BPM and introduced the idea of projects for both the improvement of enterprisewide capabilities (described as remediation resulting from the maturity assessment) and the implementation of business process automation. The latter, automation (and associated business process improvement) projects, is the subject of this chapter.
