EA Maturity Assessment

From the components of governance, we could construct a simple but serviceable EA maturity framework by assigning a level or degree of maturity that each component has achieved and assign some type of scoring to determine a maturity index. Table 2.6-1 shows an example.

This simple exercise is an illustration of more sophisticated EA maturity assessment models.

Maturity assessment of enterprise architecture management has been approached from various perspectives. Traditional methods have been based on the maturity of process and governance mechanisms. Of particular interest is the General Accountability Office’s EAMMF. Though a little dated and revised since its inception, the EAMMF is useful to illustrate the concepts of EA management maturity.
