The SV-10b Systems State Transition Description (see Table 3.6-9) is similar to the Operational State Transition Description (OV-6b) described earlier. In its simplest form, it describes the change in state of a system due to system functions or system/ external events. The objective of state transition diagrams is to observe the behavior of a system in terms of desired and undesired states, detect undesirable possible cycling between states, and ensure that the states are bounded and well understood when the system is deployed.
